THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN

YOUR CHRISTIAN LIFE

The Holy Spirit enables the believer…

1.       to witness for Christ… Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

2.       to serve the Lord… Romans 7:6  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

3.       to be led by God… Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

4.       to preach with effectiveness… 1 Corinthians 2:3-5  And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

5.       to understand his/her riches in Christ… 1 Corinthians 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

6.       to experience inner transformation… 2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

7.       to enjoy spiritual growth… Galatians 3:2-3  This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?  Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

8.       to have victory over sin… Galatians 5:16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

9.       to bear spiritual fruit… Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

10.   to appropriate spiritual strength… Ephesians 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.

11.   to pray with power… Ephesians 6:18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

12.   to worship God acceptably… Philippians 3:3  For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

13.   to guard the truths of God's Word… 2 Timothy 1:14  That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

14.   to be filled with joy, peace, and hope… Romans 15:13  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

15.   to obey the will of God… Philippians 2:12-13  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
